3rd class had an exciting day last Tuesday when we were invited to plant wildflower seeds near Navan Shopping Centre.
We met Peter who is the manager of the shopping centre, Paul who is the gardener and Veronica who also works in the office of the shopping centre.
Paul showed us how to mix the sand and seeds together to help them stick in the soil. We mixed the seeds together in buckets, which was tough going, then put some of the mixture into cups and brought them to the area chosen to sprinkle.
We all sprinkled the area and did a “stamping dance” on the seeds to make sure they didn’t blow away in the wind.
When we had finished, Paul and Veronica brought us into the shopping centre to meet Peter again.
Peter thanked us all and as a reward for our great behaviour and hard work, he bought us all a smoothie from Jump Juice Bar. They were DELICIOUS.
Peter explained that the seed planting was so important to encourage insects and honey bees.
Thanks Peter, Paul, Veronica and Navan Shopping Centre. We had so much fun.
