Extra Curricular Activities

Scoil Mhuire promotes a wide variety of activities as part of its extra-curricular programme.

The Homework Club runs four days a week and this combines the pupil’s academic work with a sporting or a computer based activity.

With a founding member of Cumann na mBunscoil on the teaching staff Gaelic games play a significant part in the life of the school. Each year in the Autumn the football team represent the school in the inter schools leagues.

On the Athletic front we participate in the schools cross country races and the track and field events annually.

Our rounders teams have enjoyed success over the years. In 2011 the girls were the Division 1 Runners Up. In 2012, we did one better and became Division 1 champions.

Olympic Handball is another huge sport in our school and both boys and girls teams enjoyed success in this years competitions. We became Meath County Champions in 2010 and were also runners up in the Under 13 event. Training for these teams takes place after school.

At various times during the year we have an Art Club in the after school programme.

Over the past year the Green Schools Committee has promoted recycling, gardening, litter picking, water and electricity reduction and generally highlighted environmental issues. The Green flag for primary schools has been awarded to Scoil Mhuire 3 times, the latest being in May 2013.We have now been awarded International Green Flags for Litter and Waste, Electricity, Water and are starting to work on our 4th flag for travel.
