Home School Community Liaison Policy

The Home School Community Liaison (H.S.C.L) scheme for Scoil Mhuire, Navan, Co. Meath is based on a strong partnership and respect between home, school and the wider community area.

It is inclusive of everyone in the school community and works to deliver the best education for all pupils and their families.

We aim to maximise participation of children and their parents/guardians in school life, promote awareness in parents own capabilities so as to enhance their child’s education and assist them in developing their own skills and interests. We aim to empower parents to deliver and promote the importance of education to their children.

We have a full time Home School Community Liaison Coordinator since September 2009 who:

  • Visits parents/guardians at home
  • Involves parents in their child’s education
  • Brings parents/guardians into school to attend courses, meetings, talks etc.
  • Involves parents/guardians in their child’s school through Supplementary Reading schemes, Science for Fun, Maths for Fun, Intercultural Day, One Author One Town and other school/community projects.

The H.S.C.L Coordinator is available every day from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. She is always outside on the school yard/car park during dismissal times. Parents are free to telephone her or drop into the Parents Room in the main school whenever they need to speak to her about an issue/concern or to find out information about courses etc.
