Visit of Mobile Farm to Scoil Mhuire
On Wednesday, April 10th we had the mobile farm visiting Scoil Mhuire. A great day was had by all of the students. Our Gardening Co-ordinator, Ms Pamela Farrell, had each class timetabled to visit the farm, which was set up on the grass bank in the Junior schoolyard. Eoin, our farmer from Maperath Farm, had hens, chickens, pigs, sheep, a calf and two geese with him. He shared lots of facts and figures with the pupils and we all learned lots! Did you know that a group of pigs is called ' a sounder of swine' and if you meet a sounder of swine running they become 'a troop' You also need to run up the nearest tree because a running troop of pigs will trample all over you! We all had a great day at the farm and we didn't have to leave our schoolyard to see all of the animals! A big thank you to Pamela for getting Eoin from Maperath Farm.
