Newsletter, September 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On behalf of all school staff, I extend a warm welcome back to all families after the summer holidays. A special welcome to the pupils and families of our new Junior Infants and to new families who joined our school. Please take note of the following items of information:

1. Morning Drop.

The school gate between the Senior and Junior schools is opened daily at 9.05 am. Children are supervised on the yard until classes begin at 9.15 am.

2. Afternoon Collection.

Just a reminder that collection times are as follows: Junior and Senior Infants: 1.45 pm 1st to 6th Class: 2.45 pm.

3. New Junior Infants.

Our new class of Junior Infants are settling in well. They will finish at 12.30 pm until Friday 16th September. From Monday 19th September collection will be at the normal time of 1.45 pm.

4. School Uniforms.

Junior and Senior Infants pupils are permitted to wear their tracksuits every day. These are still available from the office. All other classes should wear their uniform except on their allocated PE days. School tracksuits/ jumpers for 1st to 6th class are available to buy from Geoghegan’s, Trimgate Street, Navan.

5. Collecting Pupils Early.

Children should only be collected from school for a valid reason. Please call to the office to sign your child out. During break/ lunchtimes the office is not staffed so it will take a while to arrange collection. If your child is in Junior Infants – 3rd Class the secretary will inform the child/children over the Intercom and you will meet them at the Junior School front door. When returning a child to the Junior building you will have to inform the secretary that you have returned.

6. School Book Rental Fee.

The book rental fee for pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class is €60 for 1 child in school/€110 for 2 children and €150 for three children. This includes copies and Art & Craft money. Thank you to all families who have paid this already. Please bring the money into the school office, as soon as possible. The school has to pay the book shop for all of the books and your contribution is required.

7. School Car Park.

Please reverse into your car parking space as it is safer to see children in front of the car as you begin to drive out. Please be patient when driving out of school.

8. Change of Phone No/Address.

Please inform the teacher/secretary if you have moved house or changed your phone number recently. It is very important that we have up-to-date information in the event that your child is sick, has an accident at school or we require to send you a text.

9. Yellow Flag.

Scoil Mhuire has been lucky enough to be picked to take part in the Yellow Flag Programme. This programme enables the students to learn more about their own and others’ cultures. It encourages the whole school community to celebrate the cultural diversity that is in the school and learn more about treating people more fairly.

10. School Meals Scheme.

The school meals scheme is back up and running. Glanmore Foods provide the service. All meat products in sandwiches are Halal sourced. I would encourage all families to avail of this scheme. Children must supply their own drink (only Milk or Water is allowed in school).

11. Music Generation.

Children from Junior Infants to 5th Class will take part in the Music Generation Programme again this year. Junior Infants to 2nd class learn early music and from 3rd to 5th the children learn violin.

12. HSCL.

Ms Geraghty is our Home School Community Liaison teacher. She is available from 9.15 - 3.00 every day. The number is 086 8057826 and she can also be contacted at

13. School Calendar.

School Calendars with the school closures for the school year will be sent home today with this letter. They are also available on our school website at

Thank you for your co-operation,
