Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you all had a nice mid-term break. The children are settling back into school nicely after their break. Please take note of the following items of information:

1. COVID-19.

Please do not send you child to school if they have symptoms of Covid-19. These include:

Most Common:

  • fever
  • cough
  • fatigue

Less Common:

  • loss of taste or smell
  • nasal congestion
  • sore throat
  • headache
  • nausea or vomiting
  • chills or dizziness

We respectfully ask that all parents wear masks when entering the school grounds.

Our staff will continue to wear masks and encourage the children to practice good coughing and sneezing etiquette.

Pods are being maintained in Senior Classes and socially distancing is emphasised.

Please continue to let us know if your child develops COVID-19.

2. Junior Infants 2022.

Any family who has a son/daughter at home for Junior Infants 2022 please call to the school for an application form or alternatively visit our school website and download the form.

3. Seesaw.

All pupils have been given their personal access code for the educational app ‘Seesaw’. Pupils and families are required to engage with the App if they haven’t already done so. Teachers will continue to assign a number of items of homework weekly to be returned to them via ‘Seesaw’.

4. Music Generation.

Infants to fifth class have returned to music lessons with the organisation Music Generation. Junior Infants to second class are completing early music lessons and 3rd to 5th Class are completing violin lessons. All equipment is provided by the musician and the cost of the lessons is covered by the school.

5. Meath School Athletics.

Programme The School Athletics Programme came to Scoil Mhuire on the week of October 4th to work with 1st to 6th class. The children really enjoyed getting outside to complete these activities.

6. Meath Minor Cup.

We had a special visit from members of the Meath Minor GAA team. They won the All-Ireland this year and they brought the cup along to show the children.

7. Halloween Parade.

The children had a great day on Friday 22nd October. We had a parade out in the yard to show off all their wonderful Halloween costumes.

8. Aladdin Connect.

By now you will have received a text to begin the process of downloading Aladdin connect. Please follow the instructions in the text to download the app. This app enables parents to stay connected and informed about their child's education. If you have any trouble downloading the app please contact the school.

9. Bus from Johnstown.

Our bus from Johnstown is now up and running. The children are dropped to the school for approximately 9.00am and a pickup at 1.45pm and 2.45pm is available. Please contact Albert on 087 3936488 for further information.

10. School Car Park.

Please reverse into your car parking space as it is safer to see children in front of the car as you begin to drive out. Please be patient when driving out of the school.

11. Change of Phone No/Address.

Please inform the teacher/secretary if you have moved house or changed your phone number recently. It is very important that we have up to date information in the event that your child is sick, has an accident at school or we require to send you a text.

Thank you for your co-operation,

Fiona Hayden
