Newsletter, June 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As the year draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your work with us throughout the year. Parents are our partners in education and we rely on your support. Here are a few items to note:

1. Covid 19.

We still ask you to keep your child at home if they have symptoms of Covid 19. We also ask that you continue to notify us if your child develops Covid 19.

2. Attendance.

In Scoil Mhuire we promote attendance with weekly certificates, prizes and whole class awards. We ask that you only leave your child out of school for a valid reason. If you are keeping your child out of school, please send a note to the class teacher explaining the absence or record the reason on the Aladdin Connect app.

3. Active Schools Week.

Active Schools Week takes place from 9th to 16th June. Classes will complete activities such as GAA, Zumba dancing, fun races and much more. The children can wear their tracksuits to school on these days.

4. Intercultural Day.

This will take place on Friday 17th June. The classes will be completing a number of activities to promote intercultural awareness. The classes will produce projects on chosen countries as well as complete a drumming workshop. More details to follow. Please get in touch with Ms. Geraghty (HSCL) on 086 8057826 if you can help in any way.

5. 6th Class Graduation.

This will take place on Thursday 23rd June at 7.30 pm. We look forward to welcoming parents to the school on this night to celebrate the time the children have spent with us over the past 8 years.

6. Sporting Events.

  • Well done to the boys and girls basketball team who welcomed Scoil Éanna to our school on Monday 30th May. They drew in one game and had a narrow defeat in the other.
  • The children from 4th to 6th Class have been taking part in Cricket training provided by Navan Cricket Club. Some of our classes will also be taking part in a Cricket Blitz in June.

7. School Reports.

These will be released through Aladdin this year. Please download the Aladdin Connect App if you have not already done so. If you have any trouble downloading the App please contact the school.

8. Drop off and collection.

The school gate is opened at 9.00 am and the children go straight to their lines in the yard and wait for their teacher. Children should be in school by 9.15 am in the morning. Children arriving late should enter the school by the reception. Children should not be collected early without a valid reason. If you do have to collect your child early for an appointment, please bring the letter with you to the school when collecting.

9. School Uniform.

  • Junior and Senior Infants: This tracksuit is available from the school. It consists of a maroon sweater, grey tracksuit bottoms and a white polo shirt.
  • 1st to 6th Class:
    • Uniform: Maroon jumper, grey trousers/ skirt/ pinafore, maroon tie and white shirt. The crested jumper will be available from Geoghegans, Trimgate St in the coming weeks.
    • Tracksuit: Grey and maroon jumper, grey and maroon tracksuit bottoms and white polo shirt. The tracksuit will be available from Geoghegans, Trimgate St in the coming weeks.

  • €110 - 2 children.
  • €150 - 3 children
  • €50 for any subsequent children.

11. Summer Holidays.

The school will close for the Summer Holidays on Friday 24th May. We reopen after the holidays on Wednesday 31st August. The school Calendar for 2022-23 will be available on the school website in due course.

12. School Car Park.

Please pull into a car parking space before you let your children exit the car. We ask that you reverse into your car parking space as it is safer to see children in front of the car as you begin to drive out. Please be patient when driving out of the school. Please remember that smoking is prohibited by law inside school grounds.

12. Change of Phone No/Address.

Please inform the teacher/secretary if you have moved house or changed your phone number recently. It is very important that we have up-to-date information in the event that your child is sick, has an accident at school or we require to send you a text.

Wishing all the children and their families a happy and restful summer.

Fiona Hayden, School Principal
