Newsletter, 23rd January 2019
Welcome back to all families after the Christmas holidays and happy New Year to everyone. Please take note of the following items of information:
1. Morning Supervision.
The school yard is supervised by teachers and special needs assistants from 9.05 a.m. until 9.15 a.m. each morning. Children arriving in to the yard before 9.05 a.m. will not be supervised and the school Board of Management will take no responsibility for them.
2. Christmas Concerts.
Thanks to all families who attended our two Christmas Concerts in December. They were two great nights for our school and the pupils gave marvelous performances. A total of €1,200 was raised from the ticket money and the raffle. This money will be used to pay for a new Smartboard to be located in the Infant Room in September 2019.
3. First Penance Ceremony.
The pupils of Second Class who are receiving their First Holy Communion in May 2019 will make their First Penance in St. Anne’s Chapel on Wednesday next, January 30th at 8.00 pm. All pupils are requested to be in their seats by 7.45 pm and to wear their full school uniform.
4. Early School Closure.
School will close for all pupils (except Room 7/8) at 1.45 pm on Thursday, January 31st, 2019. This is to facilitate a staff meeting. There will be no Homework Club that evening. Please collect your child promptly at 1.45 pm on that day.
5. Secondary Schools’ Entrance Exams.
- Beaufort Community College – Saturday 2nd February, 2019.
- St. Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School – Saturday, 2nd February, 2019.
- St. Patrick’s Classical School – Saturday, 2nd February, 2019.
- Coláiste na Mí – Saturday, 2nd February, 2019.
6. Extra-Curricular Activities.
Monday – Rounders 5th and 6th Class 2.45 – 3.30 pm Wednesday – School League – 2.45 – 3.30 pm Ukulele lessons will resume for Second Class on Tuesday, February 5th with Ann Murray and there will be Irish Ceílé Dancing lessons for 1st Class in February/March 2019.
7. Free Connect Through Sports Programme.
This free activity will run for 8 weeks in Claremont Stadium for boys and girls aged 8 – 12 years from Saturday, March 2nd 10.00 am – 11.30 am and will continue each Saturday morning finishing on Saturday, April, 20th, ’19. Children will be introduced to 9/10 different sporting activities. If interested call Maria on (046) 9029693 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register your child. Sounds like fun!
8. February Mid-term Break.
School will be closed for two days on Thursday, 21st February and Friday, 22nd February, 2019 for mid-term break.
