Girls' and Boys' Basketball vs Bohermeen

Scoil Mhuire welcomed Bohermeen N.S. on Tuesday for the last of the group matches in the Meath schools' competition.

The girls were up first at 11.30am. They started the game at a high tempo and continued it throughout the first quarter, finishing it with the lead. The girls never looked back and showed all their skills and teamwork. Today's captain led by example and effort levels were maintained from start to finish. There were some super individual displays but all ten girls played vital roles in a game they won 26-20. The team has developed very well over the past few months and the girls are looking forward to the knockout stages after the midterm break.

The boys' game followed. Again, all ten players played their hearts out but they came up against an all round better team. Scores were at a premium against a mean Bohermeen defence. It was very close at half time with Bohermeen edging a low scoring encounter 4-2. A strong third quarter from the away team proved to be the difference. Bohermeen ran out comfortable 16-4 winners. There were plenty of positives to take from the game, including some strong defence and good 5th class performances. The boys await news of a possible playoff game.

Maria did an expert job as referee in the girls' match. A big word of thanks to the 6th class pupils who helped officiate both games at the courtside table. Thanks also to the Bohermeen teacher for taking the whistle in the boys' match.
